Kid Orphan Care Kid Rescue's Kids Available for Adoption Re-Homing a Kid

I raise goats. so if you need help please call or email

We have successfully raised several Orphan Goat from 10 hours old, Please call us if you need help.

Formula for  Goats:

1 Gallon Whole Milk ( YES just regular whole milk that we drink)
1 can  Evaporated Canned Milk not the sweet condensed thick stuff
1 cup Buttermilk
3 Tablespoon of Backing soda

Take the Gallon of whole milk that you got from the grocery store  In a separate container pour out (dont throw it away) 4 or 5 cups of milk this is to make room for the can milk and the butter milk and baking soda, Measure out one cup of buttermilk  add it back in the gallon milk jug. then open the canned milk and pour that in to the milk jug. then add the baking soda , Now you should have some room left in the jug and you want to pour back in the extra milk that we had set aside and fill the milk jug almost to the top. put the cap on and give it a good shake. Now your done you can go feed your hungry baby lamb or goat, start with 4 to 8 ounces three times a day if they are under a week old until you can get a hold of someone to help you and give you more accurate advice. each time that you make a new bottle for your baby. make sure that you give the jug a good shake.

Calves will take much more.. probably will take a lot more

In a Pinch you can just use the Whole Milk by its self for either lambs, goats,

Its always better to leave them a little hungry then too full. if a kid is to full they can scour and have problems with the overeaters disease

I give probotics to my babies everyday or at least every other day this helps with digestion and bone growth

At a week old. I have free choice hay and Goat grain out for the baby(s). I use a medicated feed that is made for goats.

Every 10 days or so you will want to get your baby on a good Cocci treatment. I use Biosol every 10 to 21 days for about 3 days. some people do it different check with your vet for their recommendation.

Feeding:
Baby(s) that are 0 to 1 weeks of age should be feed small amount every 4 to 6 hours. after the baby is a week old it can be change to a "coke bottle"16 to 20oz  full 4 times a day. People have reported success on three times a day. Just make sure that that baby has free choice to water,  grain and hay. Weight your baby every couple of days (can be done with a human scale get on weight your self.. then pick up the baby and weight your self) you baby should be gaining everyday if being properly feed.

Weaning:
After about 8 weeks you will want to start taking him off the bottle if you are feed 4 bottles a day. the first week cut him down to only three. the second and third week cut him back to two. at this time he should be eating and drinking on his own. after the second week of only two bottles you can start diluting his bottles with water until its straight water do that for a week and as long has be he is drinking water on his own. When you see him eating hay and grain you can take him off his bottle all together. this will be very stressful so make sure that you are on a good parasite control for worms and Cocci

Shots:

Hopefully your baby(s) mother was vaccinated with CD/T if not you will need to give this to your baby at 4 weeks old. Please consult your vet for further vaccination instructions or email us privately.
