Who is Orphans Only:

Hello everyone, I have kinda taken a break over the last year and a half. We moved to Antelope Valley, and my goat hobby has taken the front seat. I am unable to take kittens and large rabbits due to health reasons. but I still can advise and try to help you place or help raise your orphan animal.. With all that being said. I am now back and ready to go. So thanks for all the support and heres to another long haul : )

What makes Orphansonly so different:

I do Wildlife Transportation for Local Licensed Rehab Facilities and Licensed Rehabber's. Most Domestic Breeds of animals are fully weaned or almost weaned by 4-6 weeks of age. Livestock can be more or less depending on breed and species. There are not many rescues that have the time or man power to run a rescue dedicated to orphan animals due to the time and effort that it take. Since this rescue is ran by one sometimes only three individual its hard sometimes to accommodate everyone we try to and if not we can suggestion other volunteers or organizations.

What is a Neonate:

A neonates is a baby animal under 4 weeks of age. Most domestic animals are weaned at 8 to 16 weeks of age, Depending on Species. An animal that is still Nursing or should be nursing from its mother.

How does Orphans Only get orphans:

There are many reasons why baby animals come into my care. Sometimes the mother becomes injured or deceased which disables her to take care of her young. Other times the babies become too much work for people so they seek help or abandoned them. In most cases, even the most caring animal lover, Breeder and Shelters have busy schedules, which makes it difficult to provide the intensive care that unweaned babies need. Most shelters are not equipped to handle or give the intensive care needed for neonatal animals, but do they best that they can do. In most cases each baby has to be fostered by a volunteer's. Which is why many babies are euthanized each year because volunteers are limited. Caring for orphans can be a 24-hour job for weeks some species months. Even people with the best of intentions often don't have the time or experience to raise orphan babies. I am now accepting on a limited basis Puppies and kittens from breeders that are not of the "standard", such as white boxer, white Dobermans, coat and teeth imperfections, each baby is spayed and neutered, and the pervious owners information is keep completely confidential if requested. and if and when ready is placed in a loving home.
