Orphaned Bird Steps 1-4 To follow for TEMPORARY Housing Baby Animals:
2. Place the baby in a softly-lined covered box. Place breathing holes in the box before you put the baby inside 3. Place the box in a warm NOT HOT!!, dark quiet indoor location away from all humans and pets · Do Not attempt to give it food or water, no matter how much it begs! 4. Contact Melissa immediately

rehabber 5. Most Baby Animals needs Supplemental Heat: Supplemental heat: A warm room or your body heat will not provide enough supplemental heat if the animal is in Shock or eyes are closed and/or no fur is present. House the baby in a small covered box according to size of animal. (for small animals shoe boxes work best) lined with a small hand towel (put small ventilation holes in the box first). Next, place half of the box onto a heating pad set at low. The goal is to heat the air inside the box, not directly heat the baby. Towels are used to diffuse the heat to prevent direct contact with the baby. Frequently check the settings to ensure the baby is not overheated. Also place a small Clean Damp sponge dampened with with water in a small cup in the corner to provide moisture in the box (baby food jars work great)
